The Chestburster
Alien

A celebratory meal turns into an explosive bloodbath, when it’s revealed that a crew member of the Nostromo has been playing unsuspecting host to an alien creature. John Hurt gives a terrifically sympathetic performance, as the doomed Kane, which thankfully overrides Veronica Cartwright’s bad line delivery during the scene.

The chestburster was not only one the standout moments of 1979’s Alien; it was the moment that sold the film to Hollywood, according to many. Even today, the early stages of the Alien's life cycle remain one of the more unsettling methods of murder at the hands of a cinematic monster. Not something you’d want to be on the receiving end of.
